For Instructors

Teach what you love.

We're looking for instructors who genuinely know their craft and want to teach. A simple 50/50 partnership — we provide everything but the teaching. Show up, share your skill, share in what we make together.

The Partnership

How it works.

No rent. No platform fee. No marketing burden. A genuine partnership where both sides have skin in the game.

Built for real teachers.

Most class businesses pay instructors flat rates that turn teaching into a side gig. We don't. The 50/50 model means we have real skin in your success — when a class fills and students come back, we both benefit.

In return, we ask that you commit to teaching at least one class series or three single sessions a quarter, and that you don't poach your students into private lessons that bypass us. That's it.

01

You keep half of net revenue.

After materials, instructor and Hobbiest split class revenue 50/50. Materials are sourced by you at cost (we reimburse) — you know what your students need better than we do.

02

We provide the room.

Workshop space, tables, lighting, coffee, bathrooms, parking. Two beautifully renovated buildings on North Main Street in downtown Pittston. No rent ever charged.

03

We bring the students.

Marketing, social media, email lists, booking platform, registration, payments — all on us. You teach. We handle the rest.

04

Materials reimbursed at cost.

You source what your students need at wholesale. Submit receipts. We reimburse within seven days, before the class even runs. No fronting your own money.

05

Paid weekly.

For series classes, your half is paid each week after the class meets. For single sessions, within seven days. Predictable cash flow, no chasing checks.

06

Your class, your way.

You choose the curriculum, the kit, the price point (within our pricing structure), and the size cap. We trust you to know how to teach what you teach.

The Split

What each side brings.

We provide everything but the teaching.

  • The space, ready to go — tables, chairs, lighting, supplies storage
  • Marketing and social media presence
  • Email list of interested students
  • Online registration and payment processing
  • Reservation deposit system (we don't run half-empty classes)
  • Coffee and light snacks for you and your students
  • Insurance for the space and classes
  • Materials reimbursement at cost, within 7 days
  • Weekly payment for series, within 7 days for singles
  • Welcome kit, branded materials, photography of your work
  • Cross-promotion across all our channels

You provide what you're great at.

  • Real expertise in what you teach — at least 3 years of serious practice
  • A curriculum (we'll help you shape the first one if needed)
  • Material sourcing at wholesale, with receipts
  • Your time — for the class itself plus prep and setup
  • Patience with beginners — most of our students are starting fresh
  • Commitment to one series or three single sessions per quarter, minimum
  • A non-poaching agreement during and 6 months after teaching with us
  • Photos of your work for marketing (we credit you everywhere)
  • Background check (we handle the cost — required for all instructors)
Apply to Teach

Tell us about yourself.

Six questions. We'll read every application personally and get back to you within two weeks.

01 — You

Who are you?

The basics. We'll be in touch from this email.

02 — What you teach

What's your craft?

What would you teach at The Hobbiest? Be specific. A class title or topic is enough — we'll work out the format with you.

03 — Experience

How long have you been doing this?

We're not snobs about credentials — what matters is genuine practice. Tell us your story.

04 — Show your work

Where can we see what you make?

Instagram, Etsy, personal website, portfolio — anywhere we can see your craft. If you don't have an online presence, that's fine; tell us what you'd send instead.

05 — Availability

When could you teach?

Roughly which days and times work for you. We schedule classes based on student demand, so this is a starting point, not a commitment.

06 — Anything else

What should we know?

Optional. Anything you want us to consider — questions, ideas for collaboration, classes you wish existed, anything.

We'll be in touch within two weeks.
